BYOM Initiates Mask Distribution Drive

"Masks will become a symbol of a civilized society. If you want to protect yourselves and others from the disease, the use of a mask is important."

The appropriate usage and importance of face masks in public may serve as a means of source control to reduce the spread of the infection in the community by minimizing the spread of Covid-19 from infected individuals, who have not yet developed symptoms or who remain asymptomatic. Therefore, it becomes mandatory for everyone to wear a mask.

With Covid-19 cases still on the rise, the deadly virus can be spread by people who do not have symptoms and do not know that they are infected. Wearing a mask may slow the spread of the virus by preventing people from transmitting it to others.

With an aim to distribute masks to the underprivileged people of the local communities, BYOM by CSM initiated a “Mask Distribution Drive,” while also spreading awareness and educating people on Covid-19 preventive measures. On July 20, 2020, around 540 masks were provided to the community residents of Dasrajpur ghetto, in Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar. Proper social distancing among CSMers was followed throughout the activity. Besides the mask distribution drive, residents were also educated on the proper usage of the mask, and how it should be mandatorily worn.
